SIR,—I was born in 1855, and well remember, at the age of three, being presented to a very old lady, Mrs. Robinia Dundas, well known in our neighbomhood (we lived in Westmorland then) for her fine collection of snuff-boxes and other bric-a-brac. Her first husband (whom she had married very young, he being over eighty) was one Theophilus Chaundy, whose uncle and godfather, Salvation Chaundy, had been so christened because his birth had been hastened by the startling news, in November, 1605, of the Gunpowder Plot.—Yours, &c., ADELAIDE MASCALL. 27 Park Crescent Mews West, W.9.
