Memorial 'to Miss Strachey

SIR,—Many friends of Miss J. P. Strachey are anxious to commemorate her long and distinguished service to Newnham College as Fellow, Tutor and Principal, and her life-long interest in the education of women. It seems to us that it would be fitting to establish a fund to be administered by the College for some purpose in which Miss Strachey had a particular interest. The suggestion has been made that the fund should be used to give grants either to British students of the College for travel in France or to overseas students for travel in the British Isles or on the continent. We would welcome comments on these proposals and any other suggestions.
