THE SUMMER CAMP. By A. D. Merriman. (Oxford University Press.

2s. (id.) As a book of instruction for scoutmasters The Summer Camp should be very useful. It describes the preliminary work necessary before a camp can be pitched, and gives excellent advice in the choosing of a site, &c. Some elemen- tary surveying and range-finding are taught, fuulgood illustra- tions simplify the at-first-sight impossible task of throwing a -.bridge across a stream. The chapter -on camp cookery alone is worth the price of the book, and might prove na useful wider the parental roof as wader canvas.
