The results of the New Zealand elections this month will

be followed with interest not only here but in the United States and Canada, for failing any conspicuous political issue the fight between " Wets " and " Drys " will overshadow all else. In New Zealand, where a general election takes place every three years, a licensing poll is also taken at the same time. The elector will be asked to vote on his ballot paper for one of the following three issues : (1) Continuance of the present system ; (2) State Purchase and Control ; (8) Prohibition.
