The Pictorial Record of the Royal Jubilee Exhibition, Manchester, 1887.

By Walter Tomlinson. Edited by John H. Nodal. (J. E. Cornish, Manchester.)—This is a handsome volume, appropriately illustrated. Exhibitions are a glorified sort of advertisement, and one cannot complain if the authorised records of them have some- thing of the same character. But the thing is handsomely done ; and advertising, as other things, is best done in such fashion. —Possibly we owe an apology to A Descriptive Catalogue of the Collections of Tapestry and Embroidery in the South Kensington Museum, by Allen S. Coll (Eyre and Spottiswoode), for mentioning it in the same category.—The Book of the Bishop's Castle (T. and A. Constable), is a catalogue of the contents of the collection of curiosities of various kinds in the Castle of Glasgow.
