SIR.—J. G. Lockhart, in his Life of Cosmo Gordon Lang, records the remark about clerical moustaches as having been made by King Edward VII at Windsor in 1908 (p. 179). " On the same visit [to Windsor] he received a short and simple charge from King Edward—' to keep the parties in the church together and to prevent the clergy wearing moustaches.'
