inten- tion of this curiously antique piece of writing and story-telling is no doubt good, being to encourage right-doing and moral courage, and to discourage the reverse. There is the raw material of a boys' hero in Afitoile. But that is all that can fairly be said in praise—or not to the dispraise—of Won by Honour, which is full of grotesque improbablities, even the numerous murders and attempted murders in it being calculated only to suggest laughter.
