Sut,—I observe from time to time in the Spectator notice of competitions invited on various subjects, but the closing dates do not admit of your distant subscribers entering and competing.

The Spectator- of November 26th, 1927, page 927, contains an • invitation for contributions closing on December 30th last. Had longer time been allowed I, and possibly many overseas subscribers, would have submitted a story.—I am, Sir, &c.,
