FOOTBALL and the stock market play by different rules, but between them they have at least revived that moribund art form, the annual general meeting. In Glasgow, the Celtic board's new signings, Sir Patrick Sheehy from BATs and Brian Quinn from the Bank of England, faced a crowd of 4,000 noisy shareholders, booing and jeer- ing and shouting 'Tell the truth.' It was almost as unecumenical as a Mick-and- Prod derby match at Ibrox Park against Celtic's right-footed rivals, Glasgow Rangers. When the directors tried to assert that they were spotting talent, they were pushed off the ball: 'You lot? You couldna' spot the Pope if he was in the directors' box at Ibrox.'
