During the year 1927, Mr. J. P. Thomas tells us

in Handling London's Underground Traffic (London's Underground, 85 Broadway, Westminster, 7s. 6d.) 79,005,322 car-miles were operated, and 845,403,210 passengers were carried by the Underground railways. In this book an attempt has been made to describe in non-technical language the adminis- trative and operating aspects of the London Underground Railways." The chapter on " Arranging the Service " is perhaps the most interesting.
