BIBLIOGRAPHICAL SURVEY OF CONTEMPORARY SOURCES FOR THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL
HISTORY OF THE WAR. By M. E. Bulkley. (Claren- don Press. 10s. 6d. net.)
This is one of the innumerable volumes which the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is devoting to the economic and social history of the War as it affected the leading countries of the world. Only a wealthy foundation could bear the cost of producing such books, but students hereafter will be grateful to the Endowment for having the work done by thoroughly competent hands. The present volume forms the necessary basis for research into the subject so far as Great Britain is concerned. It is an admirable and seemingly exhaustive catalogue of books and papers, classified under subjects such as " Industry and Commerce," " Labour," "Prices and Cost of Living," and so forth ; a brief note of the contents is appended to each title, and there is a good index.
