5s. net.)—Mr. Robinson lives in an Elizabethan manor house, of which he gives us some delectable photographs, and he has found, that the old open hearths and wide chinmeys, which he has restored to theiroriginal state, were specially intended for wood fires needing plenty of draught. In the circumstances he is naturally an enthu- siast for the wood fire, which, among other advantages, can les easily rekindled in the morning if the ashes are left undisturbed.
In these days, when coal is scarce and dear, Mr. Robinson's practical advice on the use of wood fuel may be commended to dwellers in the country
