Fair comment

Sir: Ever sensible of the fairmindedness with which the august columns of the Spectator are imbued, I am emboldened to

write and point out that in his useful note of 24 May on antique fairs, Alistair Hicks, although referring in detail to almost every conceivable fair which takes place in the United Kingdom, not excluding their pre- cise dates, neglects to mention the original, and many say, the leading Antique Deal- ers' Fair which was founded under that name in September 1934 by a handful of enterprising pioneers and which flourishes presently at the Royal Academy in Picca- dilly as the Burlington House Fair under the continuing gracious patronage of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.
