Messrs. De la Rue and Co. have sent us as

usual their diaries and pocket- books for 1869, which contain this year an article on the great Nebula of Orion by Mr. Warren De la Rue himself, and a fine photograph of the nebula as seen in Lord Rosse's telescope, besides their usual ample Information on practical and scientific subjects. Mr. Warren De la Rue's account of the great nebula in Orion's sword-belt is full of pic- turesque interest, and arouses in its highest degree that special wonder in the mind which has always been peculiar to the study of astronomy. The pocket-books are, as usual, beautifully got up,—the large one in Russia leather, the smaller in gilt green morocco.
