The deputation appointed at the Manchester meeting on Indian affairs,

some weeks back, waited on Sir Charles Wood, at the Board of Control, yesterday, and laid before him accompanied by long statements, the peti- tion on the development of Indian resources agreed to at the meeting. In reply, Sir Charles Wood dwelt upon the necessity of making roads, which he fully admitted; but he told the deputation that they must not judge of the progress of improvements in India by the pace at which they pro- ceed in this country.
