Duthie. (Robert Hardwicke.)—Mr. Duthie was, we think, scarcely wise to correct

and re-write these poems, originally youthful productions. Not that they are even in a literary sense discreditable, but that they can add nothing to his reputation. The short poems which have already appeared in the magazine are far better. But he will never write poetry really worth writing, while in prose composition he might attain high excellence. Nothing can be simpler and more touching than his sketch of the life of Robert Hendon, one of the humbler victims of literary ambition.
