Serbian road may in the end prove the path to victory. How- ever, this is not the moment for prophetic optimism. What we have got to do is to set our teeth and prepare for the most terrible struggle of the war. If we mean to win—and meaning to win will involve, not sham sacrifices, but real sacrifices such as we have not yet endured or even con- templated—we shall win.
