3. ft James Bone, CH, once and for many a

long and splendid day London Editor of the Guardian, the one and only Perambulator of London and Edinburgh (and the author, with his late bro- thers David and Muirhead, of one of the best books on his native Glasgow), was ninety years of age on Wednesday. The greetings were especially warm from this small office, which houses one of Jim's former colleagues and two mere striplings who at least had the pleasure of trying to walk in his footsteps.
