One Hundred Bible Stories for Children. By Robert Bird. (T.
Nelson and Sons. 5s.)—These "Bible Stories " are from the Old Testament. They are told in simple language for " children who are too small to understand the Bible when they hear it "- read, that is, as it stands—but can appreciate it when fitted for their ears and hearts. One difficulty Mr. Bird, we see, grapples with boldly. " There are none of [Samson's deeds] that we should care to copy, for they belong to the barbaric ages Jesus has taught us better things." A teacher or teller of Bible stories must make up his mind to say something to this effect. The volume is adorned with a number of vigorous illustrations.
