We are not surprised to hear that changes of an

autocratic nature are to be made in the Turkish Constitution. They will be needed if Enver is to remain in power. Further, the Central Powers—in other words, Germany—will be called upon to lend over twenty millions sterling to the Turks, following upon a loan of a similar amount already made. To lend money to Turkey, as the Germans will soon find, is pouring gold into a bottomless pit.
