In the absence of Mr. Tom Williams, the only Labour

front- bencher with any knowledge of agriculture, Lord Wolmer wound up for the improvised Opposition, only to find Mr. Williams himself replying for the Government, which he did very well, after describing himself as one of " the chief unpaid advisers to previous Ministers of Agriculture." It should be stated that no criticism was levelled against Sir Reginald Dorman-Smith. The two million acres have been ploughed up and there is a net increase of 18,000 tractors. Hudson and Williams, not to forget Lord Moyne, who looked down from the Gallery, are a strong team, and we expect to see Mr. Hud- son's drive and energy at last fully used, as it should have been five years ago.
