My friends, exploring the environs of 'a Thames-side village, were

confronted by a notice which said " No Trespassers." They pressed on regardless until they came to a sort of deserted timberyard, for whose protection the arts of psychological warfare had been invoked. A second notice said " Beware of the Adders."
