Tax QUEEN and Prince Albert have passed a pleasant week, with drives, plays and sights, and a little business. They have visited the Princess's Theatre, the Royal Italian Opera, and the Opera Comique. On Wed- nesday they took the children to see Mr. Albert Smith's "Ascent of Mont Blanc."
Prince Albert reviewed the Essex Rifles on Monday ; on Tuesday, he inspected the buildings in Victoria Street ; on Thursday, he attended the meeting of the Speech-day at Harrow. Yesterday, he presided over a meeting of the Commission for Promoting and Encouraging the Fine Arts in Rebuilding the Palace of Westminster. The Earl of Aberdeen and the Earl of Clarendon have had audiences of the Queen.
The Duchess of Gloucester called upon her Majesty on Wednesday. The King of Portugal and the Duke of Oporto left London on Monday, on a tour through the manufacturing districts.
