[To THE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR."] Sin,—May I suggest that the authority for the description of the Serbonian Bog is Diodorue and not Herodotus, and that it is grievous to find such errors in a periodical of fine classical traditions?—I am, Sir, &c., BERNARD W. HENDERSON.

[Herodotus does describe the Serbonian Bog, but we ought to have recollected that the story of the Persian army becoming engulfed in the bog comes from Diodorus.—En. Spectator.]
