A PM speaks
CHRISTOPHER HOLLIS
The Tories, when they come to power,
Will gladly seize their finest hour
To slash the workers' wages, And in a rage of frenzied hate They will destroy the Welfare State By well determined stages.
Blind to compassion, deaf to guilt, A new society be built On naked, ruthless barter.
Thence, going forth from strength to strength, They will of course demand at length Repeal of Magna Charta.
The social gains which Labour won Be systematically undone
In every known direction—
But can't he make some small pretence
Of talking just a little sense In spite of an election?
