Into a sort of literary Queen Mary's Gift Book Mr.

Callender has collected stories, essays, poems and pictures by authors and artists whose work has been published at the sign of The Windmill (Messrs. Heinemann, Ltd.). The contents are enlivened by an entertaining essay by Max Beerbohm (" A Note on the Einstein Theory "), a reprint from S. Maugharn's wholly delightful "On a Chinese Screen," drawings over such familiar names as Arthur Rackham and C. Lovat Fraser, a new monologue poem by Muriel Stuart, and a clever but rather unconvincing story by Violet Hunt. The book is very well produced. All profits, it may be noted, will be given to the Royal Literary Fund.
