Letters to the Editor

-OUR ABERDARE FUND

[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] SIR,—I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your cheque for £1,000. Words must be few, but I can only say, in the name of the miners of Aberdare, that we are astounded at this eloquent gesture of fellowship with us in our time of great difficulty.

We shall try to respond in such a way as will bring comfort to thousands of sore hearts, and Christmas already promises to be a far, " merrier " time than ever we had dared to hope.

We are not likely to forget you and the great body of your readers who have so kindly linked themselves up with I am, Sir, &c., [We do not propose to publish acknowledgments for each sum remitted to Aberdare. In due course an auditor's state- ment will be published.—En. Spectator.]
