It is semi-officially reported from China that Sir Miles Lampson

has signed a Tariff Treaty with the Nanking GovernMent: A ' violent attack by anti-Japanese students on the Chinese Foreign Minister is the only other notable news we have had from China for some days. The leading generals and their subordinates at Nanking appear, however, to be really making some attempt at reorganizing the country. The salvation of China lies in the present National Government, and the new Treaties will do more than anything else to increase its prestige.
