PLANS FOR CAMBRIDGE
SIR,—In Mr. Barton's article, 'Plans for Cambridge,' he refers to 'Messrs. Cotton and Clore's purchase of Heifer's bookshop in Petty Cury.' May I be allowed to correct the impression possibly given that this bookshop has been sold to Messrs. Cotton and Clore, whereas it is merely the site which has been purchased? When this news was first announced in the Times it was made clear that even though the site on which this bookshop stands has been sold, this firm has a very considerable lease to run and provision has been made for the housing of this shop for a long period after the expiry of the lease on or near the present site.
Whilst writing I should like to express apprecia- tion of Mr. Barton's summary of the very compli- cated planning and development position in Cambridge at the present time.
