SOME BOOKS OF THE WEEK.

[Under this heading we notice such Books of the week as have not been resorted for TeDi41.0 in other forms.] The fourth and concluding volume of the Encyclopaedia Biblica, edited by the Rev. T. K. Cheyne, D.Litt., and J. Sutherland Black (A. and C. Black, 20s. net), contains the-letters "Q" to "Z." We have expressed our opinion of this work more than once, and need not repeat it except in the very briefest form. The volume now before us is accompanied by a manifesto from the publishers. With all that this manifesto asserts as to the learning that has been compressed into these four volumes we fully agree. As to the apology for the difference of views set forth by various con- tributors, we can only say that it is not a convenient plan to make an "open council" of such a work.
