THE FACULTY OF SPELLING.
[TO THE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR."]
Sia,—As to the reasons for bad spelling, suggested in your article in the Spectator of September 16th, I will instance the case of my seven brothers, varying in age from twelve to- twenty-one years. Their eyesight is for all practical pur- poses perfect, and they are as intelligent and read as much as most healthy boys of their respective ages, but the faculty of spelling is lacking. They all spell atrociously. Clearly, in their case, and in many others, the real reason is still to be-
