sketches are excellent specimens of American humour. Perhaps the best and most significant is " Jewseppe." Jewseppe is an Italian organ.grinder, who is anxious to elevate the down-trodden, and proceeds to elevate the gorilla who performs for his organ. The attempt ends in disaster. It is not difficult to read a political meaning into the story.
