In The Manual of Medicine, edited by W. H. Allchin,
M.D. (Macmillan and Co., 7s. 61), we have the second volume, treating of "Diseases Caused by Parasites," "Diseases Determined by Poisons," "Primary Perversions of Nutrition," and "Diseases of the Blood." We have no pretensions to criticise such a book, but we may remark that gout, which is now almost as common as death, belongs to the third class, and that it is treated by Dr. Arthur P. Luff.
