DEATH AND ITS MYSTERY.

[To THE EDITOR 07 THE "SPECTATOR."]

Stn,—In your notice of M. Flammaribn's book you happen to say, "But the soul is not a part of the brain, or irrevocably tied to it." This is simply to beg the question, you will allow. Much of the brain is still entirely uncharted. It is possible— moat highly probable—that the " soul " is a function of part of this uncharted brain, and does, as you say- the " soul " does, play on the rest of the brain, and other parts of the body, as a player uses the piano. "Thought, consciousness, and will" point to a highly specialized piece of brain, not necessarily to anything further.—I am, Sir, S:c., A. Z.
