Taken for a Ride When you build a new town,
you have first to put up accom- modation for the builders to live in. A man I know, visiting the half-completed satellite community at A early one morning, saw the workmen who lived on the site being borne swiftly away in a convoy of coaches. Enquiries revealed that they were all going to work on another new town at B, thirty miles away. This arrangement suited them well, since the journey there and back was included in their working day and they were paid for merely sitting in the coaches. Men living at B did the same thing, only the other way round.
