W. H. Aldwell, the Vicar of Wingfield, has compiled a notable monograph on Wingfield, its Church, Castle and College (W. E. Harrison, Ipswich, privately printed), tracing the. history of the famous family of the de In Poles, whose connexion with the present city of Hull dates from the thirteenth century. Mr. E. A. d'Auvergne -writes of The English Castles (Werner Laurie, 21s.), in interesting if not exciting fashion. This is a second edition.
