TH.b., LITE MR. JAMES ANNAND, M.P.
LTO THE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR.")
Sm,—I have been honoured by a request from his executors that I should prepare for early publication a biography of my lamented friend, the late Mr. James Annand, M.P. for East Aberdeenshire. For that purpose they have placed in my hands the whole of Mr. Annand's private papers and literary remains. I am desirous of supplementing the information in this mass of valuable material by selections from some of his characteristic letters. May I therefore avail myself of the hospitality of your columns to request any of your readers who possess letters on other than purely private subjects from Mr. Armand to favour me with the loan thereof? Every care will be taken of any such letters entrusted to me, and they will be returned to their owners as speedily as possible.—I am, Sir, &c.
