THE. PROGRESS OF PUBLICATION,
Tins week, has been chiefly confined to publications either of Marl: or of likeliho d. mr. BENTLEy has sent forth flair works; but must be content for the present with the notice of 13s:cgs:oasis Rec 'Perilous, and Dube-,1/',. Of the two remanets we can only say, that both are novels, and both by Americans. Cortese, by Dr. Btu n, relates to the conquest of Mexico; and Mr. KEN- NEDY, the author of "Swallow Barn," is endeavouring in Horse- Sh9c Robinson to revive the interest of the American War of In- dependence, as SCOTT revived the times of the Pretender and Forty-live.
