The National Gallery of Ireland has recently been increased by
a con- siderable number of good pictures, some of which have been purchased, others have been presented by private persons, while some have been de- posited by the Trustees of the National Gallery, (London). Copies of the celebrated "School of Athens" by Raphael, en carton, of the "Peter Martyr," by Titian, are among the purchases, besides a collection of thirty-nine Italian pictures, which the guardians have been enabled to purchase through the aid of private loans. The institution possesses also a collection of one hundred water-colour drawings bequeathed by the late Captain Taylor and two pieces of sculpture, a," Venus Anadyomene," and a 4' Boy taking a Thorn from his Foot," presented by Mrs. Car- michael.
