There has been another futile Zeppelin raid in the estuary
of the Thames. On Wednesday night a Zeppelin passed over Southend and discharged a considerable number of bombs, with the result that two women were killed and one child badly injured. Aeroplanes and seaplanes gave chase, but the Zeppelin succeeded in escaping. We can only suppose that this is yet another trial run, but it is very difficult to see bow the General Staff justify it from the military point of view. From the point of view of frightfulness it is of course a dismal failure. The universal comment here is not " How terrible is the Zeppelin!" but "How feeble!"
