St. George for England. By G. A. Henty. (Blackie and Son.)— Cressy, Poictiers, Slays, the Black Death, the Jacquerie, with such great personages as the Black Prince, Philip van Artevelde, Gaston de Foix upon the scene, besides the gallant knights and fair ladies whom Mr. Henty creates for himself, make, it will easily be under- stood, ample material for a tale. Mr. Henty's skill in this kind of writing is well known, and he will hardly fail to please as mach as usual. We could have wished that he had said a little more for the wretched peasants who were slaughtered in the Jacquerie. They had done horrible deeds; but they and their fathers had suffered mach for many generations.
