EARTHQUAKE IN SURREY. By Lilian Arnold. (Thorn- ton Butterworth. 7s.
6d.)—Contains the description of a long fight between two women, for the custody of a child and the love of a farm bailiff. One of the rivals is flamboyant, vulgar and good-hearted : the other is -a narrow-minded prude. The book is amusingly written. but drags to an unsatisfactory -conclusion after one brilliantly-handled and really dramatic situation. _
