Character-Sketches. By W. T. Stead. (J. Haddon and Co.)— Mr. Stead has republished in a volume twelve sketches that have appeared in the Review of Reviews. The subjects are the Prince of Wales, the Emperor of Germany, Mr. John Morley, Mr. A. Balfour, Lord Wolseley, Prince Bismarck, Madame Novikoff, Dean Church, J. R. Lowell, Cardinal Manning, Mrs. Besant, and Mr. Parnell. Perhaps the most interesting article is that on Mr. Morley, especially when we come to the revelations of the editor's room at the P.M.G. Next to this may be mentioned that on Dean Church.
