Looking at Life
IN a country where weather is a constant topic of conversation, the majority of people are woefully ignorant of its causes. This, however, does not deter the 'How and Why 'brigade. Your Book of the Weather, by Kaye Larsson (Faber, 12s. 6d.), provides a comprehensive explanation of winds and clouds, airstreams and pressures, fog, mist and dew and how we get those all-too- familiar depressions. There is an excellent chap- ter on observing weather, by both the profes- sional and the amateur, and a brief bibliography. The diagrams and photographs are a great help (ten upwards).
