The nation learnt on Tuesday that the King's unmarried daughter,
the Princess Victoria, bad been obliged to undergo an operation for appendicitis. There was at first a natural anxiety as to the result, but we are glad to be able to record that up till Friday afternoon the medical reports were most favourable, and there seems every reason to believe that the Princess will make a rapid and complete recovery. The resources of modern surgery are fortunately so great that even the most delicate and difficult of operations can now be carried through with a minimum of risk to the patient.
