Gytha's Message : a Tale of Saxon England. By Emma
Leslie. (Mackie and Son.)—This is a well-drawn picture of some part of English life before the days of the Conquest and after it. The story opens with the arrival of a party of slaves at the " Briostowe " slave. market, and towards the end we see one of the Saxon ladies helping to work for Queen Matilda the famous Bayeux tapestry. Miss Leslie has taken pains with her work, and produced a book that may be read with interest, and advantage.
