FROM the standpoint of British-American relations the New Year opens most auspiciously, and it is no exaggeration to say that the relations between the two chief sections of the English-speaking world were never better. As far as the 'United States is concerned, the two chief factors contributing towards this happy state of affairs are undoubtedly the British Debt settle- ment and the establishment of Dominion Home Rule in Ireland.
