ROYAL SOCIETY.
The Anniversary Meeting of the Royal Society was held on Monday last, December 1st., St. Andrew's Day falling on Sunday : the Treasurer, J. W. LUBBOCK, Esq., V.P., in the Chair.
A letter was read from H. R. H. the President, expressing his deep regret at being prevented from presiding at the meeting, in consequence of the present state of his eyesight.
The Auditors of the Treasurer's accounts reported a balance in hand of 1921. 7s. 6d.
The Report of the Council to the Society, giving an account of their most important proceedings during the past year, was read by the Secretary. The Copley Medal was awarded to Professor Plana, for his work entitled Theorie die Mourement de la Lane. One of the Royal Medals was awarded to J. W. Lubbock, Esq., V.P.R.S., for his Investigations on the Tides, con- tained in his Papers in the Philosophical Transactions ; and the other to Charles Lyell, Esq., F.R.S., for his work entitled, Principles of Geology.
The following gentlemen were then elected as the Council and Officers for the ensuing year.
