account of a sudden mandate from the Lord Chamberlain, a little piece called A Con- fidence has been as suddenly put up at the Haymarket. It turns on an intrigue in which two married couples are concerned; affords no particular scope for acting; and is, in fact, just one of those pieces that are used as "whippers-in" to the audience of St. James's.
