America's Independence Day was officially celebrated in London on Wednesday.

For the first time in history, the Stars and Strips* waved with the Union Jack on the Victoria Tower and over every Government building, in witness that the two branches of the English-speaking race are now at last united for one common purpose in one common understanding, as Mr. Balfour said at the American Society's dinner that night.
